Frog In Hand: 2024 Summer Season

Updated: Jun 24, 2024

Hello Frog Fam,

This is Jada Wallace, the Stage Production Worker and Marketing Coordinator of the 2024 Summer Company.

The Summer Season is well on its way. Dancers shuffle into the Art Shelter every Wednesday - Saturday. Each dancer has a different method of transportation: some carpool, take the bus, train, and Skye rides nearly 20 km on her bike. Watch her blog and learn more about her process. Today’s Dancer Blog in brought to you by Skye Rogers:

How I Bike from Hamilton to Mississauga Four Days a Week to Work at the Arts Shelter

Yep... you read it correctly! And I'm (mostly) telling the truth... the whole truth is that I bike from my apartment in Hamilton to the West Harbour GO station. Then, I  hop on the train to Port Credit GO. From there, I bike the rest of the way to work. It's about 20 km per day!

In this video, you'll get to come along with me for a day in the life of working in the Summer Company with Frog in Hand. Including my morning routine, and my journey to the Arts Shelter. Bonus, you get to see how we spend our day together!

Make sure you get your tickets for our Mixed Bill performance happening at the Art Shelter on July 11th-13th and 18th-20th.  Stay in-the-know about all the other fun things we're up to this summer by following us on Instagram @froginhand :-)

Great video! I enjoyed watching it and don’t regret spending the time, thank you! I especially liked the editing of the video, the inserts were just right. I also want to try video editor for mac and create my first video.

Land Acknowledgement

We are privileged to work, live and play on the traditional territories of the Anishinabek, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples - Treaty 13A territory. This territory is included in the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, which is an agreement to peaceably share and care for the land and its resources. The standard of living we enjoy in Canada is a result of thousands of years of stewardship by the original inhabitants and the inequitable taking of the land from them. We acknowledge that in order to have reconciliation, we must first understand truth; we commit to move forward in an effort to achieve both. Our CoFounders, Colleen and Noelle, are settlers from Welsh, Ukrainian and English roots, and their heritage is but one piece of the tapestry that is Frog in Hand. Frog in Hand is a collective of artists with diverse backgrounds and histories, heritages and family stories of their own.

We are all Treaty People. On September 30th each year we mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Every day we are mindful of broken covenants and we strive to make this right. We commit to collaboration based on the foundational assumption that Indigenous Peoples have the power, strength, and competency to develop culturally specific strategies for their communities. We are dedicated to honouring Indigenous self-determination, history, and culture, and are committed to moving forward in the spirit of reconciliation and respect with all First Nation, Metis and Inuit people.
